Novice monks

Novice monks

Most young men in Cambodia, especially if they are from the countryside, are considered to spent anything from a couple of weeks to several month in a pagoda to learn the teachings of Lord Buddha. For many of them it is also the only chance for an education and English studies.

Most novice monks return to a normal life later though some stay and continue teaching the Theravada Buddhism of Cambodia.
